Arthur Golden
Arthur Sulzberger Golden (born December 6, 1956) is an American novelist best known for the bestselling historical novel Memoirs of a Geisha (1997). Raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he studied art history at Harvard College, earned an M.A. in Japanese history from Columbia University, spent time studying in Beijing and working in Tokyo, and later received an M.A. in English from Boston University. Memoirs of a Geisha spent years on bestseller lists and was adapted into a feature film in 2005. Golden has lived in the Boston area and is a member of the Sulzberger–Ochs family.
