Peter Mayle

Peter Mayle (14 June 1939 – 18 January 2018) was a British author best known for his bestselling memoir A Year in Provence (1989) and subsequent books about life in Provence. He began his career in advertising before turning to writing; his works include travel memoirs, novels and children's non-fiction. Mayle's affectionate, wit-driven accounts of Provencal life brought him international fame and led to television and film adaptations.
