André Aciman (born January 2, 1951) is an Italian–American writer and professor known for his novels, essays, and memoirs. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, to a Sephardic Jewish family, he emigrated to Italy and later to the United States. He is the author of Call Me by Your Name, Find Me, Out of Egypt, and the essay collection Homo Irrealis. Aciman has taught comparative literature and literary theory and is noted for his meditations on memory, desire, exile, and literature.
