Val McDermid
Val McDermid is a Scottish crime writer, born on June 4, 1955, in Kirkcaldy, Fife. She is known for her "Tartan Noir" style, characterized by uncompromising depictions of violence. McDermid studied English at St. Hilda's College, Oxford, and worked as a journalist for sixteen years before becoming a full-time author. Her work has received numerous awards, and several of her novels have been adapted for television and radio.
