Karl Arthur Marlantes
Karl Marlantes is an American author and Vietnam War veteran. He served as a Marine in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Navy Cross, the Bronze Star, two Navy Commendation Medals for valor, two Purple Hearts, and ten Air Medals. After his military service, he earned a master's degree from Oxford University. He later worked in international business before focusing on his writing. His novels, such as "Matterhorn: A Novel of the Vietnam War" and "Deep River," draw heavily from his life experiences and have received critical acclaim. He has also written a non-fiction work, "What It Is Like to Go to War."
