
Earl Derr Biggers
Earl Derr Biggers was an American novelist and playwright best known for creating the fictional detective Charlie Chan. He was born in Warren, Ohio, and graduated from Harvard University in 1907. Biggers initially worked as a journalist and drama critic before turning to fiction. His first novel, 'Seven Keys to Baldpate' (1913), was a success and adapted into a popular play and films. His Charlie Chan novels, beginning with 'The House Without a Key' (1925), became a cultural phenomenon, inspiring numerous films, radio dramas, and comic strips. Biggers' work often blended mystery with elements of romance and adventure, set in picturesque locations.
