Mary Pope Osborne

Mary Pope Osborne is an American author of children's books, best known for the Magic Tree House series. She grew up in a military family, which led to frequent moves, instilling in her a love for adventure and imagination. After studying drama and comparative religions at the University of North Carolina, she traveled extensively through Asia. This journey significantly influenced her writing. Her first book was published in 1982, and she later created the highly successful Magic Tree House series, which has sold over 134 million copies worldwide and has been translated into more than 30 languages. Osborne is also an advocate for children's literacy.
