Ngaio Marsh

Dame Edith Ngaio Marsh was a New Zealand crime writer, known as one of the 'Queens of Crime' alongside Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, and Margery Allingham. She was also a theatrical producer and interior decorator. Marsh is best known for her series of detective novels featuring Inspector Roderick Alleyn. Her writing is characterized by its elegant literary style, deftly observed characters, and credible social settings, often drawing on the art world and the theatre for her backdrops. She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 1966 for her contributions to literature and theatre.
