Evelyn Anthony (born Evelyn Bridget Patricia Stephens; 3 July 1926 – 25 September 2018) was a British novelist best known for historical fiction and espionage thrillers. She published around fifty novels across a long career; her 1971 novel The Tamarind Seed was adapted into a 1974 film. Anthony was one of the few women writing spy fiction in her era and held civic roles including serving as High Sheriff of Essex in 1994.
