Margaret Peterson Haddix (born April 9, 1964) is an American author of more than fifty books for children and young adults, best known for the Shadow Children and The Missing series. She grew up on a farm in Ohio, worked as a reporter and a community college instructor, and later turned to fiction full time. Her novels have appeared on New York Times bestseller lists and have won multiple state reader's choice awards and other honors.
