David Adams Richards

David Adams Richards (born October 17, 1950) is a prominent Canadian novelist, essayist, screenwriter, and poet. Known for his fictionalized accounts of the Miramichi region of New Brunswick, his work often explores themes of conscience, morality, and the struggles of the working class. He is one of the few Canadian writers to have won the Governor General's Literary Award in both fiction and non-fiction categories. He served as a member of the Senate of Canada from 2017 to 2025.
