Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is an Indian-American author, poet and professor best known for fiction and poetry that explore the lives, struggles and inner worlds of South Asian immigrants and women. Her work blends contemporary realism with elements of mythology and magic realism; notable books include The Mistress of Spices, Sister of My Heart, The Vine of Desire, One Amazing Thing and the short-story collection Arranged Marriage. She has taught creative writing at U.S. universities and is a frequent speaker on literature and immigrant experience.
