Porochista Khakpour

Porochista Khakpour is an Iranian-American novelist, essayist, and journalist. Born in Tehran and raised in the Greater Los Angeles area, she is a refugee whose family fled the Iran–Iraq War and the Islamic Revolution. She is the author of several acclaimed books, including the novels 'Sons and Other Flammable Objects', 'The Last Illusion', and 'Tehrangeles', as well as the memoir 'Sick' and the essay collection 'Brown Album'. She has held numerous teaching positions at universities across the United States and is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship.
