William W. Johnstone

William W. Johnstone was an American author known for his prolific output of Western, horror, and survivalist novels. He was born in southern Missouri in 1938 and began writing in 1970, with his first publication in 1979. Johnstone wrote nearly 200 books, often featuring themes of frontier survival, justice, and conflict. His most popular series include 'Mountain Man,' 'The First Mountain Man,' 'Ashes,' and 'Eagles.' After his death in 2004, his niece, J.A. Johnstone, continued his series, having worked with him as an assistant, researcher, and fact-checker. Johnstone's work is characterized by action-packed plots, compelling characters, and a deep understanding of the American frontier. He also wrote under the pseudonym William Mason.
