Jean Little was a Canadian writer best known for her children's books. She wrote over 50 books, including novels, picture books, poetry, and short stories. Her work often explored themes of loneliness, alienation, intolerance, family stress, and the challenges of interpersonal and intercultural relationships. Little was also known for normalizing the experiences of people with physical and developmental disabilities in her writing. She was born with scarred corneas, resulting in a visual impairment that worsened throughout her life, eventually leaving her completely blind. She used a voice-activated computer to write and was often accompanied by a guide dog.
