Graham Hurley

Graham Hurley is an award-winning British crime fiction writer and former TV documentary maker. Born in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, in November 1946, his early life was marked by a love for sports and a fascination with post-war cinema. After attending Cambridge University, he embarked on a career in television, directing documentaries for ITV for two decades before transitioning to full-time writing in 1991. Hurley is best known for his crime novels, particularly the Faraday and Winter series set in Portsmouth, which has been adapted for French television and twice shortlisted for the Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year award. He has also written thrillers set during World War II and a series featuring D/S Jimmy Suttle. Hurley has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Portsmouth and has been shortlisted for the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize.
