Sebastian Faulks

Sebastian Charles Faulks (born 20 April 1953) is a British novelist, journalist and broadcaster best known for his novels set in France, including The Girl at the Lion d'Or, Birdsong and Charlotte Gray. He worked in journalism for many years (serving as the first literary editor of The Independent and later deputy editor of the Independent on Sunday) before becoming a full-time novelist in 1991. His work ranges from historical fiction to contemporary novels; he also wrote the James Bond continuation novel Devil May Care (2008). He has been awarded a CBE and was voted Author of the Year by the British Book Awards in 1995. He lives in London.
